Sketchin' Records was founded by Keyboardist/B3 player Rob Whitlock and vocalist Amber Whitlock as a vehicle to promote four self produced, written and arranged albums recorded in LA, New York & Miami over a two year period between spring 2004 and Winter 2005.
The birth of this label allowed for the unusual pairing of legendary musicians never before recorded together live, and in many cases, never recorded together at all. The lineup included; Rob Whitlock, Michael Brecker, Anthony Jackson, Vinnie Colaiuta, Scott Henderson, Othello Molineaux, Pat Kelley, Cliff Almond and Amber Whitlock. Also featured are; Bob Whitlock, John Georgini, Trey Henry, Andy Martin, Wayne Bergeron, Jim Gilstrap, Warren Wiebie, Brian Price and on backing vocals; Alfie Silas, Linda McCreary, Dorian Holly, Tina Wilson, Leonard Tucker and Jim Barbour.

The unusual combinations influence the sound of the production and styles fuse to create (initially) four cross genre recordings; Rob Whitlock Sketchin, Rob Whitlock Sketchin' 2, Amber Whitlock's The Colours of Life, and soon to be released, Amber Whitlock's The Circle. Detected in the organic production, one can hear the jazz genres of contemporary, smooth, 70's fusion, straight ahead, blues and Weather Report type world music all melding together to create a jazz stew of sorts.
The overall result is palatable to both jazz musicians and aficionados,as well as the average listener. More information can be gleaned by visiting the website of Rob Whitlock (http://robwhitlock.com/), particularly in visiting the Sketchin and Latest Projects pages.ket
