Chicago Jazz Philharmonic (CJP) returns to our historic stage with the program Americana, a celebration of our heartland’s rich cultural fabric which features The Mississippi River: Black and Blues, a world premiere by Artistic Director Orbert Davis; a suite honoring veterans, guest conducted by Dr. Roosevelt Griffin; and a salute to ragtime featuring virtuoso pianist Reginald Robinson. The evening also includes a world premiere composed by 18-year-old musician Jorge Enrique Amado Molina, a young Cuban student who performed with CJP at the Auditorium Theatre last year and whose trip to Chicago inspired the piece....
