Public radio station, WDNA 88.9FM proudly presents its third MIAMI DOWNTOWN JAZZ FESTIVAL on April 9-13, 2018 presenting over 11 groups with over 60 musicians at Mary Brickell Village, the Bayside Marketplace Marina Stage, Olympia Theater, Bayfront Park Tina Hills Pavillion, and the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater.

The highlight of the Festival will be a concert by NEA Jazz Master Benny Golson on Friday, April 12 at 8 pm the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater. Jazz Icon, Benny Golson was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 25, 1929. Golson has played in the bands of Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Earl Bostic and Art Blakey. Few musicians can claim a recording career that literally redefines the term "jazz". Benny Golson has made major contributions to the world of jazz with such jazz standards as: Killer Joe, I Remember Clifford, Along Came Betty, Stablemates, Whisper Not, Blues March, Five Spot After Dark, Are you Real? Benny Golson is the only living jazz artist to have written 8 standards for jazz repertoire.
