Composer MARK TAYLOR and Trumpeter MARVIN STAMM, with the USF JAZZ ENSEMBLE I. Mark Taylor makes a return visit to Monday Night Jazz, and in fact is Guest Faculty Artist at USF this semester, leading the Jazz Ensemble and teaching composition. Early in his career, Taylor had the honor of working with Stan Kenton, who recorded many of his pieces. Following work with Woody Herman, Frank Sinatra, and Benny Goodman, he became one of the busiest musicians in New York studios while playing for years with the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra. Stamm maintains a busy touring and recording schedule, and has a long involvement in jazz education as mentor and clinician.
