Yes! Its the Monday Band at 7pm each monday until the end of time. The Monday Band was formed to focus on playing improvised music in a large ensemble and draws its members from the large vibrant group of improvisers in town and passing through. The idea is to have a international band with a open constellation which connects the improvising scene in Copenhagen and performs every week. The band will play minimal compositions, improvising concepts and graphic scores composed and arranged by the members of the band. the band will have a flexible lineup each week but with a core group of artists consistently there. Copenhagen has long needed a place where a steady workshop band could experiment with improvising in a large ensemble and the MondayClub is the place to do it so welcome to THE MONDAY BAND
kl 20 PAM

Peder Overvik Stuberg - guitar

Zola Mennenöh - voice, electronics
Guoste Tamulynaite - synth, electronics, prepared piano
SONNTAG (Zola Mennenöh - voice/electronics & Guoste Tamulynaite - prepared piano/synth)
is an improvising, international duo based in Copenhagen and Oslo. After meeting in the the beginning of 2018, the musicians quickly discovered their common interests in exploring the textural and tonal possibilities of their instruments while keeping the expression minimal and concrete. They work with nontraditional approaches to voice and piano by combining acoustic and electronic sounds. The music is responsive, gradually moving in different directions that can lead both to quiet, grainy, non-tonal parts, but also melodic, rhythmic, song-like fragments.

Our distinguished artist in residence in november is none other than the fantastic Zola Mennenöh!!!! Zola Mennenöh is a vocalist, improviser, composer and flutist from Germany with roots in jazz, improvisation.
Before moving to Copenhagen, Zola studied and lived in Berlin and was very active in the german jazz scene. Some of her long-term collaborators are the drummer and composer Max Andrzejewski, with whom she released two albums, „CHOR“ and „GOSPEL“ and also worked in a theatre production at Schauspiel Köln in 2019. Also the american bass player Greg Cohen (John Zorn, Tom Waits, Laurie Andersen) has been a close mentor and the collaborated in various projects, from Duo to large Ensemble.
In 2016 she moved her life and creativity to Copenhagen to study in a Master of Music Performance at the Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium. Since 2018 she continues her studies in RMC’s solist class. Since arriving in Copenhagen Zola has immersed herself in the rich experimental, improvising music scene of Copenhagen and became an explorer of the voice as interpreter of a song and deliverer of a story, but also the vast horizons of sound art.
In recent years she’s been focussing on writing her own music and developing a personal musical expression and language. Her work reaches from songs, over free improvised music, contemporary choir music up to experimental sound art and ambient. Most recently she is curious about the border and the intersection of improvisation and intuition and composition, also inspired by one of her main mentors: Sidsel Endresen, norwegian singer extraordinaire.
To her current projects counts her Copenhagen based band ZOLA, her Oslo-Copenhagen based duo SONNTAG, and her solo works. Since 2019 she is also performing in theatre and collaborates with different ensembles and projects.
Zola released one EP called „Sirens“ of original compositions with her Berlin based band ZOLA RUN. In 2020 her debut album „Longing for belonging“ with her Copenhagen based band ZOLA will be released.
