The Montpelier Arts Center is located between Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD. Located on the grounds of an 18th century Georgian Mansion, the arts center provides quality arts experiences for the entire Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area. The arts center hosts performances by such jazz luminaries as McCoy Tyner, Marcus Roberts, Ethel Ennis, Bobby Hutcherson, and Keter Betts.
In 1999, the arts center formed JazzMont to present CD's of these live performances. After Marcus Roberts performed two shows at the center, he claimed that he played the best he had ever played up to that point. It was such a shame that no one else would be able to experience that show. Since then, the arts center has released five CD's to rave reviews.
