“The global crises we face have led us to question the goodness of mankind, which we have clung to for centuries, in order to justify our exploitation of the world around us. The release draws on a wide range of musical historical references such as the medieval choral work Dreams in the Pleasure Garden by Guillaume De Machaut, Destiny’s Child’s R&B hit Emotion and Holly Herndon’s fragmentary digital Frontier. From here, ilinx takes a step further in the notion of a future where technology and living organisms can no longer be separated.

Memory’s seven movements are to be released on November 30th as a limited edition of 70 cassette tapes (incl. Download code) on the newly founded music label MoBC, which specializes in contemporary music with an emphasis on vocal explorations. MoBC is run by classical singer and composer Katinka Fogh Vindelev, as well as graphic designer Lea Charbonnier, who is also behind the hand folded cover.

PAMELA ANGELA is a construction of many perspectives where bliss weighs against the disruption, aggression covered in romanticism. A joint effort between Mia Ghabarou and Àslaug Magnúsóttir drawing from classical music turned into songs sewed together with electronics. Their live performative structures are intrusive and emotional, with recycled versions constantly shuffled and moved further away from the original starting point with changing performers – plural and liquid it always mutates into a new thought. The music becomes influenced by the process. PAMELA ANGELA are working on an album that will be released later this year.

ilinx består af de tre unge komponister, sangere og producere Laura Marie Madsen, Anna Sophie Mæhl og Amanda Appel. Sammen har de skabt et værk udelukkende af vokal og ‘støj’ fra optagelserne af vokal, samt efterfølgende digital bearbejdning og manipulation af stemmerne.
Musikken og teksterne kredser om menneskets tiltagende sammensmeltning med teknologien. En proces, der undervejs fortælles både fra en cyborgs, såvel som et menneskes perspektiv, begge med et ønske om at optimere sig selv og blive bedre og blidere vha. teknologien.
“De globale kriser vi står overfor, har fået os til at sætte spørgsmålstegn ved menneskets godhed, som vi i århundreder har klamret os til, for at retfærdiggøre vores udnytning af verden omkring os. Udgivelsen trækker på et bredt spektrum af musikhistoriske referencer med afsæt i middelalderkorværket Dreams in the Pleasure Garden af Guillaume De Machaut, Destiny’s Childs R&B hit Emotion samt Holly Herndons fragmentarisk digitale Frontier. Herfra går ilinx skridtet videre i forestillingen om en fremtid, hvor teknologi og det organiske ikke længere kan skilles ad.

Værkets syv satser udgives som d. 30 november som en limited edition på 70 kassettebånd (inkl. downloadkode) på det nyopstartede selskab MoBC, der specialiserer sig i at udgive kompositionsmusik med hovedvægt på vokalmusik. MoBC drives af klassisk sanger og komponist Katinka Fogh Vindelev, samt grafisk designer Lea Charbonnier, der også står bag det håndlavede cover.

PAMELA ANGELA er et projekt der har mange fremtoninger – eufori opvejes af konstante afbrydelser og aggression bliver indhyllet i romantisme. Projektet bygger på et samarbejde mellem Mia Ghabarou og Àslaug Magnúsóttir, hvor de i deres fragmenterede sangskrivning trækker på både klassisk musik, elektronik og performancekunst. Deres live optræden er påtrængende og emotionel, en proces hvor materialet gennemgår mange stadier, bliver genbrugt og får nyt liv i nye konstellationer, med skiftende live opsætning der bringer kunstnere med forskellig baggrund sammen. PAMELA ANGELA arbejder på et album der udkommer senere dette år.
