About

Edith Piaf at the height of her career was compared to such artists as Billie Holiday and Marion Hutten. "La Mome Piaf" or "The little sparrow" (as she was once known) was the new and singular voice of France and from France she traveled to the United States where she performed in the premiere venues around New York City and Chicago. Her life was sad however, since the age of 15 her father, a notable French acrobat trained her to join his act and on her time off she would sing on the streets of Belleville where she was from to support herself. A tragic pattern of alcohol and morphine addiction tainted her after the death of her only child Marcelle at age 2 when Edith was still only 18 years old. The music she sang came from the heart, her best known hit "la vie en rose" climbed to the top of the charts in 1946. To hear that timeless love theme and more about the life and times of EDITH PIAF please join us @ Lagniappe House TONIGHT!!! BEGINNING AT 9 PM - 3424 NE 2 AVE...
