Yes! Its the Monday Band at 7pm each monday until the end of time. The Monday Band was formed to focus on playing improvised music in a large ensemble and draws its members from the large vibrant group of improvisers in town and passing through. The idea is to have a international band with a open constellation which connects the improvising scene in Copenhagen and performs every week. The band will play minimal compositions, improvising concepts and graphic scores composed and arranged by the members of the band. the band will have a flexible lineup each week but with a core group of artists consistently there. Copenhagen has long needed a place where a steady workshop band could experiment with improvising in a large ensemble and the MondayClub is the place to do it so welcome to THE MONDAY BAND...

Its been a long time since we saw Jesper Zeuthen present a larger ensemble..he usually prefers trios or quartets, but here is a real treat for the sturdy monday club crowd. STORE CLAUS - and if you are sensing a H. C. Andersen reference thats good. if you were thinking that it was a reference to Claus Hjort Fredriksen - you are in deep trouble. This is a pristine octet with some of the leading players of the next and next next generations of this music. The strings of Palme, Jacobson and Bordiga and the subtle drums Zeuthens main percussion choice: Thomas Præstegaard. What a rhythmsection! Tangvik has often lent his inspired tuba to Zeuthens world. the addition of two new reed players is a first. Nana Pi is growing into becoming a defining voice on her instrument and has been featured at the club many times before (she will also be artist in residence next year) and Henrik Melbye is a regular performer at the club whos musical message has gotten more and more clear over the years. in front of the whole ensemble is the unique sound of Jesper Zeuthen who has been lending his sound to us in a career spanning over 50 year. Günter Baby Sommer is one of the original G´s of European improvisational music and has played for decades with among others Peter Brötmann.
Baby grew up in Dresden in old East Germany where he was an important part of the isolated and popular free jazz scene there. Baby Sommer builds his own instruments and has a super personal and dynamic gallery of percussion instruments.
Baby plays with Wadada Leo Smith, Marchall Evans, Cecil Taylor, Evan Parker, Gunter Grass and of course Alexander von Schlippenbach. Baby Sommer has recorded close to 100 records over the past 45 years and with his deeply personal sound, his dedication to improvisation and exquisite and special technique, he is a cornerstone of modern European music.
Jesper Løvdal has been a member of ILK and participating in the transformation of Danish improvised music to where it is today. Maluba, Lovedale, Hvad er Klokken and many other bands did he contribute to. His horn spans 8 octaves and 4 continents and spontaneous quantum jumps and wormhole voyages in the musical universe are a must for him.
The duo has recorded a fantastic CD on ILKmusic, which has received overwhelming reviews

They will play Heins compositions in the guitar, bass and drums format, mixing contemporary classical music, improvised music and jazz in a holy trinity which can only be described as what the great Marius Müller called "moderne elektronisk rytmisk forsterka samtidsmusikk".....

Menschenstoff is a Swiss improvising group inspired by a wide range of music; from the avant garde to contemporary classical music to ambient. For their new project they developed a programme together with the English composer Oliver Thurley which questions the traditional composer-performer relationship.
They create a musical space in which boundaries fuse, juxtapose and react: interlopers breaking into one another’s territory.
