Evgeny Pobozhiy – well-known jazz guitar player and composer from Russia, the winner of the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz guitar Competition 2019, the most important competition in the world of jazz music. As a member of Moscow Jazz Orchestra and also a leader of his own band Evgeny took part in many significant jazz events, including big international jazz festivals (Rochester Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz Festival, Lotos Jazz Festival, Jazz Triumph etc.); played on some of the best jazz stages all over the world (Blue Note jazz club, New York; Ronnie Scott’s, London; A-Trane, Berlin; Blue Note Beijing etc.). As a member of Moscow Jazz Orchestra Pobozhiy took part in the 2018 International Jazz Day Global Concert (Saint-Petersburg), shared the stage with some of the biggest jazz stars in the world, such as Herbie Hancock, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Manhattan Transfer, Branford Marsalis, Joey Defransesco. To date Evgeny Pobozhiy is one of the leaders of young Moscow jazz scene, fueling a fast growth of his solo career by creating international projects with young jazz stars from USA, Europe, Asia and Russia. One of this projects is Evgeny Pobozhiy Quartet which consists of the topmost young musicians of modern generation. Quintet’s repertoire is based on the original music of Pobozhiy, thrilling with a smart combination of jazz, funk, hip hop, world and modern classical music.
