bassAbout
Explore the dynamic and complex cultural exchanges between Western Europe and China in the 17th and 18th centuries through the lens of music. Despite mutual fascination, it was often difficult to surmount linguistic and cultural differences to reach a true understanding of each other. Enjoy works written by the missionary Teodorico Pedrini, as well as transcriptions of Chinese tunes as (mis)heard by Western ears.
Concertgoers may also purchase the option of enjoying a traditional Chinese tea tasting for $15, which will start the program.
While everyone is welcome to watch the tea ceremony, seating for the tea tasting is limited and must be purchased ahead of time at https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?retail=sfems to ensure sufficient supplies.
