Long time musical brothers Steve Erquiaga and Frank Martin have been collaborating since the 1970's, first recording together with saxophonist John Handy's Band. The past 4 years have found them in an intimate duo setting performing with a very special and unique dialog afforded them due to their great friend ship and love of taking musical risks! They are joined by bay area treasure, bassist Dan Parenti and will be performing original compositions and arrangements of Jazz and pop goodies!! Including some good ol' Oaktown funk. Currently on staff as an educator in the Jazz Department of the University of California at Berkeley as well as at the California Jazz Conservatory. Guitarist/composer and Bay Area native Steve Erquiaga has performed and recorded with such artists as Bobby McFerrin, Joe Henderson, Les McCann, John Scofield, Andy Narell, David Byrne and The Turtle Island String Quartet. His CD ÒErkiologyÓ reached number 4 on the jazz charts. It features Peter Erskine, Jimmy Johnson, Mitch Forman and Bob Sheppard. His Imaginary Road CD ÒCafŽ ParadisoÓ reached number 8 on the charts. SteveÕs music has appeared in such films as "Nina Takes A Lover", "The Firm", "Forrest Gump". He worked with George Lucas on the TV series "Young Indiana Jones". His composition ÒEuzkadiÓ appeared in the film Deceived and he appears on the sound track to ÒForest Gump.Ó His involvement in studio work has included such fun stuff as the ÒPeanutÓ specials and the Garfield the CatÓ cartoons as well as countless commercials and jingles. He is a faculty member at the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley Ca., an international clinician, and a internationally published author. San Francisco Bay Area native D-Lucca (Daniel Lucca Parenti) is one of the bay's premiere bassists, at ease with every style from Rock, Jazz, R&B and Gospel. He has performed with music legends such as Rosemary Clooney, Sheila E, Pete Escovedo, Michael Brecker, and Lionel Hampton to name a few and appeared on two Grammy-nominated albums as well as "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" and "The View." D-Lucca is also an avid music educator and clinician and is also currently on faculty at The California Jazz Conservatory and Oakland School for the Arts. D-Lucca is also the Proudest Papa to his Son, Luca Mitchell, an up incoming drummer. Together they have an acclaimed Father and Son production call ÒLuca & Lucca."
