Born in Camaguey, Cuba, bassist, violinist, and composer Yunior Terry is the youngest son of a musical dynasty known as Los Terrys, one of Cuba's most gifted musical families. Born in Camaguey, Cuba, bassist, violinist, and composer Yunior Terry is the youngest son of a musical dynasty known as Los Terrys, one of Cuba's most gifted musical families. Following his father and brothers Yosvany and Yoel, he was surrounded by the music of Afro-Cuban religious traditions and learned to play the chekeré from his father Don Pancho, the undisputed master of the instrument.

Yunior graduated from the prestigious National School of Art, and continued his musical studies in the US, at CalArts, LA. Since, he has worked with some of the biggest names in Latin American music, including Jerry Gonzales and Fort Apache, Steve Coleman and Five Elements, Quetzal, Arturo O'Farril, Pete Escovedo and Sheila E., Dafnis Prieto Quintet, Jane Bunnett, and the Latin Jazz All Stars.

Recognized for his big sound, versatility, and contagious rhythm, and busy schedule as a sideman, Terry leads his own band “Son de Altura”, created to innovate as well as to preserve the legacy of Cuban music; releasing his first album as a leader Mi Bajo Danzón published by Palo Santo Music.
