Four masters of Cuban music, led by renowned pianist Hilario Durán, on tour in Holland!
This heartfelt homage to Cuban music from past to present brings together four masters on their instruments: percussionist Jorge Luis Torres 'Papiosco', bassist Roberto Riveron and drummer Amhed Mitchel can be heard in the Netherlands for the first time.
Cuban pianist/composer Hilario Durán makes his instrument sound like an orchestra . His virtuosity made him a favorite of his legendary compatriot, Chucho Valdés. In the 1970’s Hilario Durán was Chucho Valdés’ chosen successor in the ‘Orquesta Cubana de Música Moderna’, which also had many members of the future group Irakere. From the ‘80s on, Durán made his international breakthrough, working with a.o. Arturo Sandoval, Dizzy Gillespie, Jane Bunnett, Michael Brecker and Michel Legrand. He has been a regular guest pianist, director, composer and arranger for the WDR Big band in Cologne, Germany. Hilario lives in Canada since the ‘90s, where he leads several groups and his own Latin Jazz Big Band. He was nominated for a Grammy, won several Canadian Juno’s and was honored with the Chico O’ Farrill Lifetime Achievement Award for talent and outstanding contributions to Afro-Cuban and Latin Jazz....
