Paul. Jost Quartet at Maureen's Jazz Cellar

Paul returns to Maureen's to celebrate the Quartet's brand new album, "Simple Life," just released this week. Vibraphonist Joe Locke appears on the album as special guest. In the album Paul brings his fresh interpretations to songs as varied as Blume and Ruby's "Simple Life," Ellington's "Caravan," and Lennon & McCartney's "With a Little Help from My Friends." In addition, Paul sings two of his own compositions, "Livin' in the Wrong Time" and "Bela Tristeza."
All About Jazz magazine captured the appeal of Paul's Quartet in a review: They glide "...effortlessly from swing to bebop…Jost's boppish scatting bristles with the unmistakable energy of in-the-moment improvisation. Jost is an all-rounder; his gravely soul delivery can sound like a cross between singers Otis Redding and Pino Daniele, and he imbues singer John Sebastian's 'Daydream' with the Delta blues."
