About

Please join us for the release celebration of Philadelphia guitarist Nick Millevoi’s raucous Desertion Trio’s new record, “Twilight Time,” (joined by special guests Ron Stabinsky and Tara Middleton, best known for her work in the Sun Ra Arkestra), and the Philadelphia debut of CUP, the husband-and-wife duo of electrifying guitarist (and ANW favorite) Nels Cline and multi-instrumentalist Yuka C. Desertion Trio is the creation of guitarist/composer Nick Millevoi, formed to fearlessly explore the history of instrumental electric guitar music and throw it in a blender, creating an explosion of jazz, psychedelic blues, surf music, and country rock instrumentals. Millevoi has worked with artists such as Nels Cline, John Zorn, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Fugazi’s Joe Lally, was a member of Chris Forsyth & the Solar Motel Band and Deveykus, and co-led the punk-jazz power trio Many Arms, which releases five records including two on John Zorn’s Tzadik label. Desertion Trio features bassist Johnny DeBlase of Sabbath Assembly and Zevious as well as drummer Kevin Shea, known for his work with Talibam! and Mostly Other People Do the Killing. Their upcoming release Twilight Time, named for the 1958 hit by The Platters, finds Desertion Trio taking on the influence of the music of the 1950s and 1960s directly. Joined by Sun Ra Arkestra vocalist Tara Middleton and keyboard wizard Ron Stabinsky of Meat Puppets and Mostly Other People Do the Killing, they cover songs associated with popular artists of the period such as The Platters, Santo & Johnny, and Gene Pitney, as well as exotica godfather Les Baxter and space age record producer Joe Meek....
