Ila Cantor Trio at Copperfield's Books (san Rafael)

Ila Cantor will be performing original music featuring her latest love, the charango. The charango is a 10-string Peruvian instrument used in traditional andean and folk music. It has none to very little presence in chamber music or jazz, however Ila has been inspired to change that. Accompanied by John Wiitala on upright bass and Hamir Atwal on drums, Ila is thrilled to be presenting a new approach of blending this traditional South American folk sound with jazz instrumentation and composition. The emerging artist will be guitarist Spencer Handley.
