The ChiArts Jazz Sextet is the top (J)azz ensemble at the Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts), the Wind City's premier public performing arts high school. ChiArts belongs to the network of performing arts high schools that collaborates with the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz. The Institute offers the ChiArts jazz program professional clinics, masterclasses, and guest artists throughout the school year. Over the past several years, the Sextet has performed locally and nationally with such distinguished (J)azz artists as Bobby Broom, Gerald Clayton, Benny Green, Herbie Hancock, Antonio Hart, and Sean Jones, including appearances at the Jazz Education Network (JEN) Conferences in Atlanta, Dallas, and San Diego. The group also was selected to tour for a week with Bobby Watson as part of the Hancock Institute's National Peer-to-Peer Jazz Education Program. This year's edition of the Sextet will be performing on tour in Los Angeles in April of 2019.
