ABOUT BEC SCOLNIK
Bec Scolnik presents a selection of original compositions and standards in the debut performance of her quartet. This brand-new group will showcase the baritone saxophone at the centre of the band, and feature young Brisbane legends Benjamin van Jole, Josh Kameus, and Katie Randall. Bec's music is inspired in equal parts by hard-bop, funk, and old school swing.
Bec studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with David Theak. She has played regularly with Judy Bailey's Jazz Connection and the Dave Panichi Big Band, and recorded with Sandy Evans on Sirens Big Band's 2017 album Bridge of Dreams. Bec now works on Brisbane's northside and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland as a woodwind teacher and ensemble director, and teaches Ensemble and Principal Study Saxophone at JMI....
