Igor Butman’s name is well known far beyond the Russian borders. A Berklee college alumnus, Bill Clinton’s favourite sax player, virtuoso jazz musician, leader of the hottest Igor Butman Big Band, owner of two best Moscow jazz clubs and core Russian jazz label called Butman Music!
The saxman decided to run his own recording business and opened new jazz label Butman Music with his management team in the summer of 2009. In the very beginning he marked the main goals for label to achieve: propaganda of Russian jazz music overseas and its integration in the world musical landscape. And he applied all his efforts to make it possible! Most respected jazz magazines including Downbeat, JazzTimes, JazzForum, JazzPodium and many others cover label’s releases, and tracks from label’s back catalogue are played by top US and European radio stations.

The headquarters of the company are situated in Moscow, and there’s a company’s US office in New York. That’s why the albums are released simultaneously in Russia and the US and also become available at all online stores including iTunes, AmazonMP3, Napster and others.
Since its launch in June 2009 Butman Music released 11 albums presenting original Russian jazz music (including “The Shadow of Your Smile” by Vadim Eilenkrig, “The Way Home” by Ivan Farmakovsky, “Moscow@3am”, “Eternal Triangle” and “Sheherazade’s Tales” by Igor Butman Orchestra, “Jazz Passion” and “Runway” by Oleg Butman, “Take Me With You” by Alexander Berenson, “Blues for 4” by Andrey Kondakov, Igor Butman, Eddie Gomez, and Lenny White, «Songs for My Father» by Andrey Kondakov’s band “Brazil All Stars” and “Vive L’Amour” by Nick Vintskevich).
Despite the fact that the label exists for less than 3 years, line-ups of the records boast the names of Wynton Marsalis, Will Lee, Peter Bernstein, David Garfield, Hiram Bullock, Cyrus Chestnut, Eddie Gomez, Lenny White, Randy Brecker, Jay Ashby, Kim Nazarian and other famous musicians!
Among the releases planned for 2012 by Butman Music are «Igor Butman and friends» recorded with Bill Evans, Michael Brecker, Carla Cook, and Kevin Mahogany, and reissue of legendary «Nostalgia» by Igor Butman.
